Artisan Pink Tiger is a striped plum tomato grown as much for flavour as for appearance.
The elongated, teardrop-shaped fruits develop streaks of pink, gold and bronze as they ripen, starting green and gradually deepening in colour through the season.
The plants are indeterminate and grow with real vigour, setting generous trusses once established. For the best results, it pays to let the fruit fully colour before picking — sweetness increases noticeably at full ripeness, without losing the savoury balance that keeps it useful in the kitchen.
The flesh is thick-walled and relatively low in juice, giving the tomatoes a firm, meaty texture that slices cleanly and holds together well. They work particularly well where you want flavour and structure rather than excess liquid.
Artisan Pink Tiger performs best under glass, where warmth and consistency allow both colour and flavour to develop properly. It can be grown outdoors in a warm, sheltered position, but like many striped varieties it benefits from a settled summer.
This is a variety that combines visual character with reliable eating quality, rather than relying on looks alone.
