Roma Tomato
Plug Plant

A classic plum tomato grown for cooking.

Roma is a classic plum tomato grown primarily for cooking. It’s valued for its dense flesh, low juice content and reliable performance, rather than for fresh eating or sweetness.

This is a determinate tomato that grows into a compact, bushy plant and sets its fruit over a defined period. The tomatoes are oval to plum-shaped, with thick walls and very few seeds, which makes them particularly well suited to sauces, passata, roasting and preserving.

Flavour is mild when eaten raw, but deepens noticeably when cooked. The flesh breaks down evenly without becoming watery, producing a rich, concentrated base that works well on its own or blended with other varieties.

Roma performs well outdoors in warm summers and is easy to manage thanks to its compact habit. It can also be grown under cover for earlier and more predictable harvests, but it doesn’t require a greenhouse to be productive.

This is a tomato chosen for the kitchen rather than the salad bowl — dependable, practical and purpose-built.
